Andy Roddick to face Rafael Nadal in quarter-finals of Dubai Championships
American Andy Roddick will face Rafael Nadal of Spain in the quarter-finals of the Dubai Tennis Championships.

Roddick had 13 aces in his 6-3, 6-4 win over Paul-Henri Mathieu of France, and the second-ranked Nadal easily beat Mikhail Ledovskikh of Russia 6-4, 6-0 on Wednesday.

“It’s going to be a tough one,” Roddick said.

Kournikova, Roddick play to appear for Aces this summer
Andy Roddick won’t be the only big name in tennis appearing in St. Louis this summer.

World Team Tennis’ St. Louis Aces announced their full schedule for the 2008 season on Monday and said Anna Kournikova will make an appearance with the Aces. The team announced last month that Roddick, the former U.S. Open winner currently ranked sixth, will also play a match for St. Louis.

Meanwhile, the world’s top-ranked doubles team, Mike and Bob Bryan, will play for Kansas City in a match at the Aces’ home court in the Dwight Davis tennis complex at Forest Park.

The Aces will play 14 matches — seven home and seven away — during the season that begins with a match at Springfield, Mo., on July 3 and ends July 23 at Washington.

Roddick will play for St. Louis on July 12 at home against the Kansas City Explorers. Kournikova plays at home July 18 against Springfield.

The Bryan brothers and the Explorers play the Aces in St. Louis on July 20.

“Having both Andy and Anna play for the Aces means we’re going to have a strong season and our fans are going to see the best tennis in the world,” Aces general manager Dani Apted said.
